Uses: Palm Sunday, Call to Worship, Introit
Scripture: Matthew 21:1-11; Mark 11: 1-11; Luke 19:28-40
The unique quality of this Shaker tune is infectious to the listeners, wrapping them in a rustic blanket of sound. With new lyrics written especially for Palm Sunday, the lilting 6/8 feel suggests the swaying of palms, and the chorus delivers the energy of the triumphant shouts of praise. Brief in length, it might well serve as a processional or opening number, as it captures the festive elements associated with Christ's entry into Jerusalem. Finger cymbal part included.

Originally written for unison voices (or solo voice) with organ accompaniment, Duruflé later scored it for four-part chorus. These new editions include an English text for singing, the original French text, and a keyboard reduction of the unaccompanied version.

These two previously-unpublished Psalm settings were written while Benjamin Britten was studying at the Royal College of Music in London but, despite encouragement from Ireland, Vaughan Williams and Howells, were never performed during the composer's life. Scored for chorus and orchestra, the contrasting movements show many of the traits so loved in Britten's later music. After being unearthed again from archives, the premiere of 'Two Psalms' was given on 1 December 2012 by the Oxford Bach Choir and English Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Nicholas Cleobury. Contents: Out Of The Deep and Praise Ye The Lord.
