The second movement from Heather Sorenson's Requiem is a unique blend of intimacy and grandeur. Scored for SATB choir with soprano and tenor soloists, this ancient prayer unfolds with soaring melodies and rich, expressive harmonies. The shimmering B section offers a modern-day rendering of the Beatitudes, merging Scriptural truths with today's issues. “Kyrie” is equally at home in worship or concert settings, and is available with optional cello obbligato or chamber orchestra accompaniment.

Drawn from Heather Sorenson's larger work Solas, “Solus Christus” is a deeply poignant anthem that emphasizes the central truth of the Christian faith: Christ alone is our salvation. Exquisite in its writing, the music reverently cradles the broken body of Christ and closes with the haunting words, “by His stripes, we are healed.” Especially fitting for the Lenten season, yet suitable for any service centered on Christ's sacrifice, this anthem leaves a lasting hush in its wake. Flexible accompaniment options - piano, piano/organ, chamber orchestra, or full orchestra - allow it to shine in both worship and concert settings.

CANTATA No. 118 (O JESU CHRIST, MEIN'S LEBENS LICHT; OH JESUS, MY LORD AND LIGHT) is a sacred motet composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). It is known to have been performed at a funeral, and was possibly a generic work intended for funereal purposes. When the work was first published in the nineteenth century, it was called a cantata, perhaps because it has an instrumental accompaniment. While it is not an a cappella work, modern scholarship accepts it is a motet. The instrumental accompaniment is written in six parts, which many instrument substitution options available: Part I - Trumpet 1 in B-flat; Part II - Trumpet 2 in B-flat; Part III - Clarinet in B-flat or/and Flute or/and Oboe; Part IV - Trumpet 3 in B-flat; Part V - Trombone 1 or/and Horn in F; Part VI - Trombone 2 and/or Bass Clarinet in B-flat.
