This versatile African instrument serves as a rattle, shaker, and drum all in one. The hand-strung plastic beads woven in an adjustable nylon web allows for playing both loud, rattling sounds or softer sounds with added control. Excellent drum bass-like tones are created from hitting the bottom of the shell. A protective rubber ring covers the mouth of the shekere.
