This work is based on the story of the soldier and the princess from the film Cinema Paradiso. Long ago a poor soldier fell in love with a beautiful princess. He had nothing to offer her, but managed to meet her and declare his love. The princess was very taken by his emotional plea, and told him that if he were to wait under her balcony for one hundred days and nights, she would be his. Waiting patiently, the soldier endured all manner of torment from weather, wildlife and starvation. Finally on the next-to-last night, the soldier took up his chair and disappeared. The music evokes the atmosphere of the poignant story, and the work is divided into three different movements. Dur: 5:00
