In 2001 the musical world commemorated the 100th anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi's death. Verdi has long been synonymous with Italian opera in the popular conscience, not just since the concerts of the 'Three Tenors.' Every year thousands of people make the pilgrimage to the arena in Verona to enjoy the music, the brilliant voices and the lavish productions. This selection of Verdi's melodies is easy to play and doesn't miss out any of the old favourites: the Triumphal March from
Aida, the Prisoner's Chorus from
Nabucco, 'La donna e mobile' (
Rigoletto), the Stretta from
Il Trovatore, the Drinking Song from
La Traviata and a whole lot more.
