Exultation was commissioned by the Japanese concert band, Musée d'Art Harmonie celebrating their 10th anniversary. The piece is a short and energetic concert opener which is palindromic in form and begins in fanfare style, juxtaposing 3/4 and 6/8 rhythms with a Latin flavor. The main “blues” tinged theme is then followed by a marcato style second theme and lyric section. These various sections then appear in reverse order, culminating with the powerful strains of the opening fanfare. Dur: 3:00 (Grade 4) MORE»
