Commissioned by the Cape Cod Music Festival on the occasion of their 30th Anniversary. In four movements: Benny @ 100, Bandoneon, Lecuonerias, and Chiquita Blues.
“D'Rivera's four-movement suite features four distinct influences: Benny Goodman, and Argentinian Milonga, a solo clarinet improvisation around melodies by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona and, in the fourth movement, a mixture of 12-bar blues, Cuban Danzón and contemporary atonal music. At 19 minutes this is a major work that is technically and rhythmically challenging and an engaging merging of jazz, popular and classical elements.”--The Clarinet

Mozart did not make extensive use of the clarinet until comparatively late in his career, but he wrote exquisitely for the instrument, and the two scores dedicated to his friend, Anton Stadler-the Quintet, KV581 and the Concerto, KV622-are among his most beautiful works. Both, incidentally, belong to the final year of his life. The Clarinet Concerto is in the conventional three movements, with music that transcends conventionality in its remarkable sense of repose and serenity, and what Bernhard Paumgartner has called 'its incredible warmth of tone, perfect balance and unmatched perfection of style.' The concerto had a tremendous resurgence in popularity with the release of the Academy-Award-winning 1985 film Out of Africa, of which the piece formed a major element. This deluxe book includes the concerto in its original key with printed parts for both A and B-flat clarinets, and adds a repitched version for B-flat clarinetists, allowing players of that instrument easier execution plus the ability to learn the same fingerings as the composer's intended A clarinet for performance purposes.
Includes a high-quality music score (featuring both A and B-flat clarinet parts); and access to high quality audio recordings online featuring demonstration and backing tracks minus you, the soloist. The audio is accessed online using the unique code inside each book and can be streamed or downloaded. The audio files include PLAYBACK+, a multi-functional audio player that allows you to slow down audio without changing pitch, set loop points, change keys, and pan left or right.

Originally written for the final year clarinet examination at the Paris Conservatoire, Debussy's “Première Rhapsodie” has quickly become a bestseller of the clarinet repertoire, being a highly impressionistic work that plays marvellously with the timbral possibilities of the clarinet. Its success was so pervasive that Debussy later arranged the piano accompaniment for orchestra, and in this form the rhapsody is today to be heard all around the world. Our edition also contains as a “lollipop” the popular “Petite pièce,” an original work of under forty bars that was in fact devised as a sight-reading test.
“This edition examines all of the previous versions and attempts to provide a final, definitive edition of this revered work...The editor has carefully examined all of the sources and provides extensive notes regarding differences in dynamics, phrasing, and notation...The extensive historical notes alone make it invaluable, and the music is clearly printed on heavy stock with the sometimes problematic page turns eliminated.”--The Clarinet
