Michael Bussewitz-Quarm (b. 1971, US; living on New York's Long Island), composer of more than 30 vocal and choral works written over the past 20 years, is a passionate advocate of music's role in effecting social awareness and change.
Nigra Sum (SATB or SSAA) is a sensitive setting of the text from the
Song of Solomon and at times has the character of a lullaby. The work is dedicated to “all refugees throughout the world, and all who are lost.” It was written in response to the grave humanitarian crisis in Syria.
